The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU) has opened applications for its 2027-2028 Innovation and Technology Scholarship, part of the third phase of the programme focused on equipping young Africans with skills for economic and social development. The scholarship supports 30 African scholars to pursue selected full-time, on-campus master's programmes in technology, innovation, and engineering at ASU in Tempe, Arizona.

Key Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Citizenship: Be a citizen of an African country.
  • Education: Have earned, or be on track to earn, a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution by August 2027.
  • Academic Standing: Show strong academic performance, with a minimum equivalent of 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • English Proficiency: Meet ASU's English-language proficiency requirements for graduate admission.
  • Age: Be between 18 and 33 years old by the application deadline.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate leadership, community service, and a commitment to creating positive change.
  • Prior Study: Not have previously started or completed a graduate or master's degree, and not be enrolled in or starting another graduate programme while applying.
  • Relocation: Be able to relocate to and reside on ASU's campus in Tempe, Arizona, for the duration of the programme.
