Can you turn an idea into a strong logo? The African Union (AU) wants young African creatives to design the official logo and visual identity for its 2027 Theme of the Year. The theme is "AU at the Dawn of its 25th Anniversary". It focuses on better links across Africa, through transport, digital systems and institutions. The winning design will be unveiled at the AU Summit. Citizens of any AU member state can enter, so Nigerians are eligible.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a citizen of an AU member state. Nigeria is one.
- You must be between 18 and 24 years old on the deadline date.
- You must enter as an individual. Teams are not allowed.
- You can submit only one entry.
- You do not need formal qualifications.
- Your design must be original and made for this competition. It must not copy the AU emblem, existing logos, national symbols or anyone else's work.
- You cannot use generative AI.
- AU staff, contractors, evaluation panel members and their immediate family cannot enter.

- Download the competition documents from the official AU competition page.
- Prepare your full entry. It must include:
- The application form with your name, nationality, date of birth, contact details and a short profile.
- Proof of your nationality and age.
- A presentation PDF showing your main logo, a colour version, a black-and-white version and a reversed version, plus three mock-ups: a digital card, an event backdrop and a publication cover.
- A preview image (PNG or JPEG) at least 3000 pixels wide.
- A concept note of up to 500 words.
- A signed declaration on originality, intellectual property and AI use.
- Remove your name, signature, photo and social media handle from the logo presentation. Keep them only in the application form.
- Submit through the official channel on the competition page before October 23, 2026, 11:59 p.m. East Africa Time (9:59 p.m. in Nigeria).
- Keep the automatic acknowledgement as proof that you submitted.
- If you are shortlisted, send editable vector files (SVG, EPS or .ai) within 3 working days.
