The African Union Commission, with support from AUDA-NEPAD, has launched a continental competition for young Africans to design the official logo and visual identity for the AU Theme of the Year 2027. The theme is "AU at the Dawn of its 25th Anniversary: Leveraging the Full Potential of SAATM and New Technologies for Continental Integration." SAATM is the Single African Air Transport Market, a flagship project of Agenda 2063. The winning design will represent the theme throughout 2027.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship: Be a citizen of an African Union Member State.
- Age: Be between 18 and 24 on the submission deadline.
- Entry: Submit as an individual. Team entries are not allowed, and each applicant gets one entry.
- Who Can Enter: Students, designers, artists, digital creatives and innovators are all welcome. No formal qualifications are required.
- Originality: The design must be original, made for this competition and never published before. Generative AI is not permitted.
- Exclusions: AU staff, contractors, evaluators and their immediate family cannot enter.
Prizes
- First Place: $5,000
- Second Place: $2,000
- Third Place: $1,000
All three winners also get a certificate of recognition, acknowledgement through AU platforms and training opportunities. The winner will also take part in the AU Summit, where the logo is officially unveiled.

- Completed application form and a brief profile.
- Proof of nationality and age.
- A presentation PDF showing all required logo versions and three mock-ups.
- High-resolution PNG or JPEG previews, at least 3000px.
- A signed originality, intellectual property and AI declaration.
- Your identity removed from the design presentation.
