Dangote Cement Sets London Capital Markets Day Ahead of LSE Listing

Dangote Cement Plc has announced plans to host a Capital Markets Day on September 21, 2026, in London as it moves closer to securing a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

In a regulatory filing with the Nigerian Exchange Limited signed by Company Secretary Edward Imoedemhe, the firm confirmed that the upcoming briefing follows a May 12 corporate update and formal shareholder approval for the dual listing. The event will give international investors, financial analysts, and key stakeholders direct access to senior executives to discuss operational performance, strategic initiatives, and core business priorities, with presentation materials and logistics to be released ahead of time in accordance with disclosure rules.

The move marks the culmination of a long-standing ambition championed by founder Aliko Dangote. Although previous attempts to float on the LSE were delayed by regulatory hurdles and heavy capital commitments toward major infrastructure projects including the $20bn Dangote Petroleum Refinery the initiative gained fresh momentum after the UK Financial Conduct Authority revised listing rules for overseas issuers. Shareholders subsequently authorized the plan at the company's July 2026 annual general meeting, empowering the board to offer up to a 10% equity stake to global institutional investors. London was selected over alternative hubs like Dubai due to its deep liquidity pools and aligned reporting standards, giving foreign investors direct currency-hedged exposure to Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest cement producer without facing local foreign exchange constraints.
