Do you want to start a project that makes your community fairer for girls and women? Girl Up is giving Project Awards to youth groups, activists and Girl Up Clubs+. The awards go to projects that are youth-led, built on trust and focused on gender justice. You do not need to be part of a Girl Up Club. Newly formed groups and first-time applicants are welcome.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- You must be between 13 and 25 years old.
- If you are under 18, an adult must authorise you and co-sign for the funds.
- The awards go to youth groups, activists and Girl Up Clubs+, not to registered organisations.
- Your project must advance gender justice in your community.
- Groups in some countries cannot receive funds. These include Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and occupied parts of Ukraine. Nigeria is not on this list.
- Past applicants and past winners can apply again.
- You can apply to one award level only:
- Leader of Self: up to $500, for newly formed groups starting Girl Up work for the first time.
- Leader of Peers: up to $1,000.
Benefits
- Funding of up to $500 or up to $1,000, depending on your award level. You can ask for less than the maximum.
- The money can cover materials, venues, transport, food, printing, digital tools, stipends, and costs such as interpretation or childcare.
- Onboarding at the Innovation Lab on November 28.
- A call with an alumni mentor and a regional cohort meeting.
If you are selected, you will run your project from January to April 2027 and send a final report by April 30. Winners will be told in the last week of November, and funds are sent in US dollars from December.

How to Apply

- Pick the award level that fits your group.
- Prepare your answers. The questions are in English and Spanish.
- Fill in the Girl Up application form before October 31, 2026. There are no extensions.
