The Ogun State Executive Council has approved a fresh package of infrastructure and economic development projects covering road construction, healthcare, power generation, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The approvals, made at the weekend, are part of the state government's efforts to strengthen infrastructure, improve healthcare delivery, support businesses, and provide reliable electricity for its expanding industrial and commercial economy.
The Council approved the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Siun Junction-Iperu Junction Road, connecting Obafemi Owode and Ikenne Local Government Areas, and the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Simawa-Lukosi/Ogijo Road in Sagamu Local Government Area. Variations were also approved for the reconstruction of the Sango-Ota-Ijoko-Agbado-Oke-Aro-Akute Road (Phase I) in Ifo Local Government Area and the 69.2-kilometre Abeokuta-Abule Egba Road. The state government said the road projects are expected to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and create better conditions for economic activities across Ogun.
In a major move to strengthen the state's enterprise ecosystem, the Council approved the establishment of the Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency. The agency will coordinate and strengthen government support for MSMEs across the state, with responsibilities including promoting entrepreneurship, facilitating access to business opportunities, and improving the capacity of small and medium-sized businesses. The government expects the agency to help MSMEs expand their operations, create jobs, and make a stronger contribution to Ogun's economy, as the state continues to position itself as a major industrial and investment hub.
The Council also approved Ogun State's participation in power generation through the adoption of Gateway Power Limited, aimed at improving electricity supply for the state's growing industrial and commercial base. The state government said more reliable electricity would help businesses improve productivity, reduce operational challenges, and create a stronger environment for investment.

In the healthcare sector, the Council approved the construction of new General Hospitals at Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area and Aiyepe in Odogbolu Local Government Area. The projects are expected to expand healthcare infrastructure and bring medical services closer to residents, particularly in communities experiencing growing demand for healthcare services.
The latest approvals cut across transportation, healthcare, energy, and enterprise development, reflecting Ogun State's strategy of combining infrastructure investment with business support to drive economic growth and job creation.
