Applications are open for delegates to represent the children and youth constituency at the upcoming First International Conference of the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC IC-1), scheduled from November 16-20, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference is preceded by the 4th Global Youth Forum on Chemicals and Waste from November 14-16. The GFC IC-1 is an important opportunity for young people to participate directly in global chemicals and waste governance. On behalf of the Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform (CWYP), UNEP is inviting applications for travel grants to support youth participation. Youth delegates deliver spoken and written interventions during negotiations, meet with country and stakeholder delegations to discuss youth priorities, and engage in the 3-day Youth Forum on Chemicals and Waste.
Key Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Age: Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
- Availability: Be available to travel and be present in Geneva from November 13-20 (inclusive), and commit to participating in the full programme.
- Application: Submit the completed application form by the deadline.
No prior UN or policy experience is required. Applicants with experience or interest in chemicals and waste through advocacy, science/research, journalism, storytelling, or education are encouraged to apply. Minors under 18 must confirm the name and contact information of the parent or legal guardian who will accompany them for the entire duration; CWYP supports registration of the guardian but only covers travel expenses of the minor participant.

Grant Options
- Fully-Funded Travel Grant: Roundtrip international airfare, accommodation with breakfast included, meal reimbursement, transportation, and visa fees. Open to children and youth from low- and middle-income countries and/or Indigenous youth from any region.
- Partially-Funded Travel Grant: In-country/in-region (Europe) low-cost airfare or train ticket (up to 150 CHF roundtrip) and accommodation with breakfast included. Open to all children and youth from any country or region.
- Non-Funded Registration Support: Applicants cover their own travel expenses; CWYP provides an accreditation letter and conference registration only. Open to all children and youth from any country or region.
